What I photograph.
I photograph sports, events and travel. In 2025, I had the privilege to work for Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern and the Zurich Film Festival, photographing movie stars Dakota Johnson, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Wagner Moura, as well as athletes Ditaji Kambundji, Annik Kälin, Gina Lückenkemper, and Alica Schmidt. I am also working on a book project about New York and Miami.
What I strive for.
My photographic vision—what I strive for, not merely where I stand today—could probably best be described as a Hunter S. Thompson–style Gonzo fusion of Ernst Haas and Greg Williams. When it comes to the aesthetics, I am inspired by the great Austrian-American photographer Ernst Haas: A lot of colour, a lot of contrast, a lot of motion and, occasionally, a bit of abstraction. Greg Williams bridges from being an observer to interacting with the subjects, thereby producing insights that would otherwise remain hidden.
What I do with my photos.
I believe that photographs unfold their greatest potential when printed and complemented by written narrative. I believe in heavy books with heavy paper and haptic covers. Instagram and other social platforms have become rather peculiar venues for sharing photographs, having created this strange trend where people seem to derive more enjoyment from watching reels of their Fuji cameras than watching the photographs themselves.
AN IMPERFECT EXAMPLE
This photo of Dakota Johnson, which I took at the Zurich Film Festival, is a great—because imperfect—example of what I’m trying to do: getting close, using strong contrast and motion, thereby creating a unique perspective in a situation where most photographers would likely choose the predictable solution.
The result turned out a bit mediocre, though: too bright, shutter time a bit too long, not the ideal motion, and probably also a moment too late. Still, the background works nicely. It’s a more risky style of photography because a lot can (and did) go wrong.
But that’s what makes it fun, too. Enjoy my website!
